Day Tripping on the Apple Pie Trail

There are many activities and adventures you can find on the Apple Pie Trail.  The fresh, cool waters of the Beaver River readily available for a paddle via kayak or canoe, and the beautiful escarpment at our back door to discover with a hike or bike. Add a couple of the region’s beautiful falls and a helicopter ride for the more adventurous combined with our amazing trail stops and you have yourself a day full of fun, activity and excitement!

 

With 40 trail stops, there are dozens of different combinations you could put together to fill your day. But, if you're looking for a wonderfully planned, tried and true adventure at the ready, we have a few for you. Read through our planned trips and find the one that’s best for you.

 

Pedal & Paddle the Blue Mountains

Starting at beautiful Blue Mountain Village and armed with a map of the route and tickets for the gondola, you are ready to embark on your self-guided 40 km ride through gorgeous apple country on smooth rolling hills. Fuel up with some lunch at Blackbird Pie Co., and then head out on a 1-hour paddling adventure on the Beaver River. Your bike will be safely transported to the end of your river journey where you will reconnect and continue via the Georgian Trail back to the Village.

 

Time: 4 - 7 hours. May vary depending on activity level and stops.

Paddle & Wine Tasting 

This trip includes a self-guided 1 hour paddle on the Beaver River with Free Spirit Tours and an incredible wine tasting experience at Georgian Hills Vineyards. You have the option of which activity you would like to do first and by what means you would like to travel down the river (Canoe or Kayak). You will have the choice of 4 wines including the Apple Pie Trail products Baked Apple Dessert and Frozen to the Core Dessert wine.

 

Time: 2.5 hours

Walk, Waterfall & Wine Tour 

Take in two of the region's beautiful water falls with a guided walk of Eugenia Falls and Hogg's Falls. Enjoy the spectacular view at "Old Baldy" where you will take in 1,000 square miles of the Beaver Valley and Georgian Bay. End your trip sampling some local wines from Georgian Hills Winery.

Grapes, Apples & Hops Tour

This guided tour is an excellent way to get acquainted with the region. Enjoy tasting of spirits, wines, beer and ciders made from our very own local apples and grapes. Stops include Georgian Hills Vineyards, Thornbury Village Cider House & Brewery, and Side Launch Brewery. 

Time:3 hours

Helicopter Tour & Wine Tasting 

See the Pretty River Valley from above  flying high in a Helicopter. Appreciate the best of nature in the most exciting way. This tour for 4 guests travels up the Pretty River Valley to Georgian Hills Vineyard where you will participate in local wine tasting paired with delicious cheeses. Return how you began, back in the Helicopter for a flight over the shoreline of Georgian Bay, Blue Mountain Village and the Collingwood Harbour.
